I’m selling my handmade jewellery on ebay for the first time, and i’m unsure whether to put it as new without or with tags…?

Thanks for answering x
The links aren’t working, please just tell me what you think.

The term "new with tags" is generally reserved for merchandise bought from large retailers who use sales tags…not custom merchandise.

I heard of a place called epsy that sells handmade items but I can’t find it anywhere. I am looking for jewelry using vintage graphics.
Does anyone have a suggestion on where to look for this kind of thing?

I’ve just started making jewellery, I was wondering are there any sites where I can sell it apart from ebay. I’m in the UK.

You could register with Etsy, as someone else suggested, and also try Folksy, which is the UK equivalent. I love Etsy, and have bought loads, but am sticking with Folksy now as it’s quicker for me (UK based).

Tried Ebay and Etsy but would like to find something more specific to handmade jewelry.

I’ve been making handmade jewelry for two years now. I sell on Ebay and I think the competition there is just crazy. I have been selling more locally then online this year and I’m really starting to take off. If I were you I would start making things for friends and family you would be surprised at how fast the word spreads. Also Flea Markets are a great place to sell handmade jewelry just make sure you prices are reasonable and make sure you are not losing any money. You have to keep track of everything you buy and sell down to the tiny little seed beads.

I see people who have made say a cute keyring or earrings selling them at conventions and such. I know some people use Polymer clay? But that’s all I’ve heard. Gimme a heads up.

And there’s also glass clay (powdered glass mixed with CMC and fired in a kiln) and metal clays (metal powders mixed with CMC and other binders) and fired in a kiln.

I just started about last year. I sell on Ebay and to friends/family for right now. I would like to expand my line and sell to more places-such as retail chains/stores. I would like to get the word of my jewelry "out there." How do I begin to get the word out and try to sell to larger stores-and then there are some that get regonized in big magazines like Style or Glamour-I would love to be one of those people !:) ….So where do I begin to "break into the business?"

I’d check with locally-owned stores where you can talk personally to the owners. See if they will sell your jewelry in their stores, first. That will give you a feel for the business and help you make connections you will be able to use later.

all handmade by me, materials, price of, and time spent on vary greatly. also, there is transportation and display costs. an example of what i sell is : 16 inch onyx and black agate necklace with a teardrop mother of pearl pendant, 18 inch 3 strand turquoise colored seed beaded necklace with a handmade one of a kind 30mm sterling silver dolphin and hoop pendant. both took about 2.4 hours to make.

Normally, price is associated with quality, especially when it comes to handmade jewelry. You don’t want to price your jewelry too low because people will think maybe something’s wrong with it. Fast sell and good profit are almost like oxymorons when it comes to jewelry. A lot of time and money goes into making it, so don’t underprice your jewelry. Of course, this means it might not sell as fast.

You can calculate both wholesale and retail price. Labor is the amount you want to pay yourself per hour. Depending on your experience it can be anywhere from $15 and up per hour. A common pricing formula is the following.

Wholesale price = (Materials X 2) + (labor X # of hours)
Retail price = wholesale price X 1.50(50% markup)

The markup over the wholesale price can be as high or as low as you want but 50% is pretty common. The display and transportation costs cannot be part of the price since those are business expenses. You have to markup your jewelry to the extent that the price will cover all your expenses plus leave you with a decent profit.

If the handmade jewelry was priced around

$10 - Necklace
$6 - Earrings or Bracelet
$4 - Anklet
$18 for a set (includes all)

or would you rather buy from a catalog that has each item well over $16 each?

I think homemade jewelry looks better and plus their mostly more unique than just buying jewelry out of a catalog. An when jewelry is more unique looking you dont have to worry about everyone having the same thing as you
