How do I become a fashion designer?

Hi, my dream is to become a fashion designer like Prada, Chanel, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Giorgio Armani, etc. I am really into fashion, and I am good at drawing. I was wondering what I can do to have an early start on my career; I’m 13. How do I start to make my own clothes, purses, shoes, jewelry, perfumes, etc……..Thanks!

Yeah, practicing drawing designs is a good start. Take some sewing classes so you can actually make your designs into real outfits. Also check out http://www.designerbloc.com/ It’s a community for aspiring fashion designers to display their designs, get community feedback, and meet other designers. You should publish your designs there and get critiques from an international fashion designer community.

Start taking sewing classes and pattern making! Focus on your own style not styles that have already been done many times. Once you get into high school my college had a high school program where you can take classes in your field. You can probably take sewing and paternmaking at Vogue, or Jo Ann fabrics.
Also have fun with your friends, fashion and your camera.. style some shoots.

^^ the last girl gave you good information. Just to add, you need to do well in school and go to fashion school/college. That is where you will learn the industry.
