Any creative ways to sell handcrafted jewelry?
I like making jewelry but I live in a third world country… so it’s a little difficult to sell handcrafted jewelry, since it costs a little more than those mass produced by other countries. Is there any hope to my small business? How will I be able to sell more?
The fate of artisans, manufacturing handicraft jewelry is pathetic. Last year I took some of the international visitors to a village where they are manufacturing jewelry out of clay and fired in a country furnace to produce fantastic products.Since they are not getting good price for their product in the local market, they were doing distress selling.one of the visitor purchased 100 sets of jewelry items by paying what ever the price they quoted.Artisans were happy to get that price. But the visitor from south Africa told that she is going to invest 10 times the value paid to that jewelry for the jewel box itself and asked the artisans to guess what would be her selling price!
Latter she told me that the artisans are not aware of the value for their product,They need to know about good packaging, presentation and marketing. We then started taking the artisans to Exhibitions, Trade fare, conducted at capital cities and over a period of time they started learning the trick of the trade and some of them are now doing exporting also.

Why not consider exporting to other countries. Depending where you live you can export to North America or Europe. Where do you live and what kind of jewelry ?? I might be interested. Good luck
